SAC Newsletter 8 August 2016 Pass it on: please forward this to anyone you think may be interested. Cup semi-final win in dramatic last over SAC beat Catus by seven runs at Eymet yesterday - which sounds like a close result, as it certainly was. When the last over started Catus were 102 for 7 chasing SAC’s low total of 110 and looking a good bet for the win if they held their nerve. Skipper Irfan Sheikh (already top scorer in the SAC innings with 31) put himself on to bowl and started with a high full toss – big swipe by the batter: catch taken. Next ball another full toss – big swipe by the batter: catch taken. At 102 for 9 suddenly the game looked very different – hat-trick maybe? No way – Irfan relieves the tension and bowls a wide (one of 17 in the Catus innings). Fourth ball – another wide? full toss? No, half-volley but still a big swipe by the batter – and for the third time catch taken, game over; Irfan’s figures 3 for 1 – man-of-the match no question... So SAC can now look forward to the final at Damazan on 28 August where they will play either Eymet or Damazan (the other semi-final is on Sunday 14 August). SAC qualify for T20 finals SAC beat Eymet and Mansle in their two qualifying matches played at Chenaud on 31 July. (Eymet, 185-4, beat Mansle, 111-9, in the third match.) Scores: Eymet 112-3 in 20 overs; SAC 115-5 in 18.2 overs, Zain 54, Danial 28*; SAC 226-7 in 20 overs, Clulee 69, Khalid 43, Singh 38; Mansle 142-9 in 20. The finals are at Damazan on 21 August versus Bordeaux (who beat Catus and Damazan) and Toulouse who had a bye. SAC Newsletter 27 July 2016 Pass it on: please forward this newsletter to anyone you think may be interested. Big cup win SAC beat Mansle by 150 runs in the cup quarter-final at Chenaud on 17 July. Surprisingly put in to bat on a very hot day the SAC openers, G Clulee (66*) and D Nott (63), made a strong start. The highlight of the SAC innings was a hard-hitting and stylish maiden century by Danial M (103*). In reply to SAC’s total of 255-2 in 35 overs Mansle scored 105 (A Muktar 3-18, S Singh 2-11, S Ahmen 2-24). SAC will play Catus in the semi-finals at Eymet on Sunday 7 August with the final at Damazan on 28 August. Senior cricket week a success The annual visit of Dorking Dads on 13 July was followed by Casuals matches with Epsom School old boys – a T20 on the Friday evening and a 35-over match on Saturday. The home side managed to beat Dorking for once and were too strong for Epsom on Friday. But on the Saturday the visitors borrowed one or two home players, including man-of-the-match S Singh, and got a result. T20 on Sunday 31 July at Chenaud The qualifying round of the 2016 T20 competition is at Chenaud from 10h on Sunday 31 July. The first match in a three-team competition is SAC v Eymet which is followed at 13h by the losers playing Mansle. The third match at 16h 20 is the winners of the first match playing Mansle.
